Womenable Speeches and Seminars
Presentations: what we've been saying to whom
Womenable President and CEO Julie Weeks, as one of the world's leading authorities on trends in women's entrepreneurship, speaks frequently to a variety of audiences about different aspects of women's enterprise development - ranging from the latest research trends and policy developments to putting that knowledge to action in marketing, outreach, programming and education efforts. She speaks to corporate, financial, entrepreneurial, educational, research and general audiences, and is frequently quoted in the media. Here is a sampling of some of her recent speeches, workshops and seminars:
- December 2009 Womenable President and CEO Julie R. Weeks traveled to Birmingham, England to deliver an address on the occasion of the close of a two-year project, the Women's Enterprise Centre of Expertise. Weeks' remarks were covered in a local newspaper, and were commented upon in a blogpost from the West Midlands Regional Observatory. Her presentation at the event (including a somewhat poor quality audio and PowerPoint slides) is embedded below:
- June 2009 Weeks moderated a workshop at the 2009 International Council for Small Business world conference in Seoul, South Korea, entitled, "Women, Entrepreneurship and Growth." The workshop was cited as one of the most poplar at the conference and highlighted on the ICSB web site. During the workshop, Weeks presented her paper, "A Connotation for Control: Women Business Owners Seeking Balance AND Growth," which was also discussed at the ISBC conference in Belfast (see November 2008 below).
- April 2009 Womenable President and CEO Julie R. Weeks gave a luncheon address to a local gathering of women business owners in Michigan entitled, "The State of Women's Enterprise," focusing on trends in the US, internationally, and how women business owners are faring in today's economy.
- March 2009 Weeks led two panel discussions at the 6th annual Prowess conference in Blackpool, England, focused on "Women's enterprise - going global" and "Women's business centres: the debate." She also led two focus group discussions in the margins of the conference focused on the development of a quality standard and definitional framework for women's business centers in the UK. (See our Projects page for more information on that endeavor.)
Also in March, Weeks spoke to the Advisory Board of Enterprising Women magazine at their annual gathering, updating those assembled on recent events in women's enterprise development. Weeks is a member of the magazine's Advisory Board.
- February 2009 In her role as a national board member of NAWBO, Weeks spoke at a "Women's Business Summit" hosted by the National Women's Business Council, focusing on the results of a recent member issues survey and sharing NAWBO's thoughts on what is needed to move the women's enterprise community forward over the next few years.
- November 2008 Womenable President and CEO Julie Weeks participated in a panel discussion focused on the current state and future directions of the women's business development at the 35th International Small Business Congress, held in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Weeks also presented a paper at the concurrently convened 31st annual Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship conference, entitled "A Connotation for Control: Women Business Owners Seeking Balance AND Growth" Click on the link below to watch and listen to a 9-minute narrated PowerPoint slideshow summarizing the research findings (You'll need to wait a few moments for the audio to buffer):
- October 2008 Weeks participated in an international meeting of women's enterprise development experts at several roundtable discussions convened in London by Prowess and the Department of Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, focused on strategies and methods for providing education, training and technical assistance to nascent, new and growing women business owners.
